Firefighter Chris West gets a helping hand from Tyler Reardon in spreading the foam.
The Duxbury Fire Department was invited to D.A.R.E. camp to introduce and teach different aspects of the fire service to the kids. The Fire Department brought the SAFE trailer to teach kids how to crawl under smoke and safely escape if there is a fire. One fun aspect for the kids was running through the field of foam which is an important tool we use to fight fires more efficiently. The foam is biodegradable and was a big hit with the kids. The highlight probably was the water shower in the end from the ladder pipe which cooled the kids off. This event gave the fire department the ability to interface with children in a fun way. D.A.R.E. Camp exposes kids to all facets of Public Safety work and when it was the fire departments turn we thought it would be natural to do something fun.
Foam covered the kids and the field on a warm summer day.
Snowing in July!
No need to take a bath tonight!
