DUXBURY'S SAVE-AS-YOU-THROW (SAYT) - How does it work? You buy blue, non-taxable, Town approved trash bags at stores where you usually shop. You put your trash in the those bags and bring them to the Transfer Station to dispose of as you currently do with your trash. (The bags are for trash only! Recyclables should be placed in a separate container.) There is no charge for recyclables. Thus, the more you recycle, the more you save.
SAYT, also known as Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT), becomes effective April 1, 2008. There are two sizes of bags available, a 33 gallon (barrel size) at a cost of $1.50 and a 13 gallon (kitchen size) at a cost of $1.00. BAGS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE FOLLOWING RETAILERS:
