Police and town officials in Weymouth and Quincy have been warning residents to be aware of people posing as town employees in order to gain entry into homes. If you are approached by an individual claiming to work for the Town of Duxbury and you have any doubts, please call the Department of Public works at 781-934-1100 ext 142 or ext 130. For Water Department, please call ext 129 or 130. We will be happy to confirm if we have an employee working in the area. Normally, any work done is scheduled with the resident in advance and DPW workers are always in town vehicles. An emergency situation can occur but it happens on very rare occasions.
No DPW or Water Department employee will ever ask you to pay a fee of any kind or charge you for any service while out in the field. If you are ever uncomfortable being approached by anyone claiming to be from a utility company or from the town, you should feel free to contact the Police Department as well.
