Open Space Plan
The documents contained herein are chapters of the Duxbury 2002 Open Space and Recreation Plan.  The documents are in acrobat.pdf and with a dial-up modum it may take a little while to download.

Also listed below are the results of the Duxbury Community Survey that was completed in 2007.

CHAPTER
DESCRIPTION
A brief statement summarizing the Open Space Plan.
 
This chapter describes the town in a regional context, includes a community history, population and social characteristics, and growth and development patterns.
Sections of this chapter include a) geology, soils, and topography; b) landscape characteristics;c) water resources; d) vegetation; e) fisheries and wildlife; f) scenic resources including scenic landscape, archeological and geological features, cultural and historic areas, and areas of critical environmental concern; and g) environmental problems and statistics
The inventory includes lists of a) Protected Land such as Conservation Commission land, State-owned lands, town landings, Water Department land, and property owned by non-profit land organizations; b) semi-protected land broken down by town-owned lands and church and non-profit organizations propoerties; c) Chapter Lands including chapter 61, 61A and 61B lands, and residential/commercial mixed use parcels. Section D lists conservation restrictions and section E identifies recreation land.
This chapter explains the process by which the goals were determined and identifies the statement of goals.
This chapter includes a resource protection needs summary; community needs summary; and management needs.
Identified in this chapter is a comprehensive set of goals and objectives that should provide clear guidelines for Duxbury's open space and recreation planning for the next five years.
This chapter is a discussion of the accomplishments over the past five years.
The five year action plan lists the objective and action the Town will take to meet its goals and objectives.
