Document	Use/Description
Birth and Death Certificates	Certified copies of birth certificates of residents born in or whose parents were living in Duxbury at the time of birth may be obtained from the clerk for a fee of $10.00 for one copy. The same applies to death certificates of any person who dies in Duxbury or who dies elsewhere, but was a resident of Duxbury at the time of death.
Marriage Licenses	In MA you may apply for a license in any city or town in MA and be married in that or any other city or town in MA. Your license will be recorded in the city or town where the initial filing of the "Intention to Marry" was obtained and at the state vital statistical office (public number 617-740-2600). The earliest a license may be obtained is 60 days before the wedding and the shortest time must allow for the license to be left at the town clerk's office for 3 days. (Example: file on Friday-The license may be collected on Monday).
Business Certificates	The State of MA requires that parties doing business in a name other than their own obtain a Business Certificate which is good for four years and costs $40.00
Dog Licenses	Dog Licenses are required for all dogs 6 months and older. A Rabies Certificate and proof of spaying or neutering must be presented when applying for license. All dog licenses expire March 31st of each year. Renewal of licenses for the following year can be done beginning in mid February. The yearly Town census contains instructions for dog licensing by mail.
